Q&A with Jeff Watt, Mid-Western Sales Representative

Q&A with Jeff Watt

Jeff Watt has been a sales representative in the hunting and fishing space for 33 years, and he’s repped for Royal Wulff fly lines for all of those years. He grew up in Southern California, but spent his summers fishing in Montana. Currently, he lives in Raymore, Mo., and has four sons. A steelhead (and soon-to-be-Atlantic-salmon) addict, Jeff covers Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas for Royal Wulff.

Why Royal Wulff fly lines?

  • Specialty line has a niche for this region. Lots of roll casting in our trout areas in Missouri.

What's your favorite Royal Wulff fly line and why?

  • Signature Series. It’s all because of the ease of casting.

What's your "daily driver" Royal Wulff fly line?*

  • Signature Series

What's the best Royal Wulff line for freshwater fishing?

  • Signature Series, but I need to experiment with some of Royal Wulff Spey lines.

What's the best Royal Wulff line for saltwater fishing?

  • Bermuda textured. I used to saltwater fish a bunch but haven't for a while.

Where do you do most of your fishing?

  • I spend the majority of my time in pursuit of anadromous fish.

Where is your favorite place to go fishing?

  • The Dean River, British Columbia.

What's your favorite fish species to go after?

  • Steelhead.

What fish or fishing experience tops your bucket list?

  • The Dean, but this might get knocked off the top as I start to chase Atlantic salmon.

What do you love most about your job?

  • The people I have developed relationships with over the past 33 years and all the firsts I have been a part of that become norms in the industry. It's also hard not to like making the deal!
